Valkyrie's Christopher McQuarrie Writing the Wolverine Sequel

And everyone thought this sequel was going to suck! THR has announced that Oscar winning screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie, of The Usual Suspects, The Way of the Gun, and Valkyrie most recently, has been hired by Fox to write the next Wolverine movie. Hugh Jackman is set to return and will also produce along with Lauren Shuler Donner. The movie's story line will take its cue from the early 1980s Frank Miller / Chris Claremont mini-series, which is set in Japan and has Wolverine dealing with ninjas as he struggles whether to follow his animal killer instincts or a new life under a samurai's code of honor and respect.

This is the first good sign that the Wolverine sequel might indeed be a huge improvement over this year's movie. McQuarrie is a very talented screenwriter who has mentored a lot of young writers in Hollywood. I interviewed him last year for Valkyrie ...
